Admission Process

The Maharashtra Council of Agricultural Education and Research (MCAER- State Council), Pune is a statutory organization constituted under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Agricultural Universities (Krishi Vidyapeeths) Act, 1983. As the Agricultural Council (MCAER) has been authorized by the provisions made in the Subsection3 (G) of Section 12 of the above-mentioned Act, a common rules and regulations have been formulated for the admission process of various degree courses, for the State Agricultural Universities.

University Quota [‘U’ Quota]

The candidates who possess the Domicile Certificate of Maharashtra. If doesn’t have domicile, the candidates with Maharashtra State as their birth place in Maharashtra mentioned on their College / School Leaving Certificates or Birth Certificate issued by competent authority of Maharashtra State and those who have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate examination conducted in the respective jurisdiction of the Agricultural University of Maharashtra, seats reserved for such candidates are considered as ‘University Quota’ [‘U’ Quota].

Maharashtra Quota [‘M’ Quota ]

The candidates who possess the Domicile Certificate of Maharashtra. If doesn’t have domicile, the candidates with Maharashtra State as their birth place in Maharashtra mentioned on their College / School Leaving Certificates or Birth Certificate issued bycompetent authority of Maharashtra, seats reserved for such candidates shall be referred to as ‘‘Maharashtra Quota’ [‘M’ Quota]. Therefore, Candidates under the University Quota [‘U’ Quota] are also eligible for Maharashtra Quota [‘M’ Quota].

Other State Quota [ ‘OS’ Quota ]

The candidate or their parents are not staying in Maharashtra for at least three years in the period of past consecutive 10 years, and if a person has a Domicile Certificate from some other State of the country other than Maharashtra, then such candidates shall be referred to as Quota for Candidates from Other State.

As per the jurisdiction of Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Agricultural University, Dapoli, for B.F.Sc. degree program, students belonging to seven districts of Konkan zone viz. Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg have been considered under U Quota while students from rest of Maharashtra are classified under M Quota.

Qualifying Examination XII Std. (Science) passed in 10+2 patternfrom Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education or an equivalent Examination, with PCB or PCMB or Inter (Agriculture) and English.
Those who have not offered Mathematics shall have to complete deficiency courses as prescribed by respective University.
Entrance Examination Common Entrance Test conducted by Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra.

Eligibility Criteria for Post-Graduate Degree Programme :

The post graduate degree program in the field of Fisheries Science leading to M.F.Sc. degree is implemented in 9 disciplines and Ph.D. in 6 disciplines. The eligibility criteria for the post graduate degree program is as follows :

Degree Programme : Ph.D.
Qualifying Examination M.F.Sc. Degree in the concerned subject ofthe Agricultural Universities in Maharashtra or of any other Agricultural University recognized as equivalent thereto.
Entrance Examination Common Entrance Test in Fisheries faculty conducted by Maharashtra Agricultural Universities Examination Board, Pune
The candidate should be in the merit list of Common Entrance Test (CET) 2017-18 conducted by the MAUEB, Pune and should have passed the postgraduate degree examination with minimum 6.5 CGPA on 10.00 point Scale.

Admission Process :

Common Entrance Examination to all degree program implemented by all State Agricultural Universities, including B.F.Sc. is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Mumbai. Therefore, for admission to B.F.Sc. degree program, the student has to appear CET conducted by Government of Maharashtra.
For admission to post graduate degree program, a common entrance test (CET) is conducted by Maharashtra Agricultural Universities Examination Board, Pune.
As per the Subject no.12 of the 88th meeting of MCAER conducted on 22/05/2013, the common admission process to degree as well as post graduate degree program should be implemented in an ‘online manner’. In accordance with this, the responsibility of Online Admission Process has been bestowed upon Kalp Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (‘KTPL’), Pune.
On line application for the all degree program are available on the website of ‘KTPL’ – ‘maha-agriadmission.in’. The documents related to admission process along with details of marks obtained in CET are uploaded by the students along with the online application within the stipulated date mentioned by MCAER. After scrutiny of the submitted applications, provisional merit list (70% of marks secured in CET + 30% of marks scored in qualifying exam) prepared by KTPL with consultation with MCAER is displayed. The list is open to all students to verity the marks and weightages and in case of any discrepancy, applicants aggrieved by the merit list, can submit grievances for necessary corrections. The appeal of the candidate will be considered by the Grievance Committee and corrected State level list is prepared. The admissions are given purely on merit. The entire process of admission implemented by KPTL is governed by the apex body Maharashtra Council of Agriculture Education and Research, Pune.
After receipt of allotment letter issued by MCAER, the selected candidate has to report the office of Associate Dean with original certificates. After complete scrutiny of all certificates including caste verification, the student is allowed to register the degree program by completing the roster form.

Reservation Policy :

As per the provisions made in the Indian Constitution, provisions made under the Maharashtra Agricultural Universities (Krishi Vidyapeeths) Act, 1983, and also as directed by government resolutions from time to time, specific seats have been reserved for admission to degree program.

  • As per the policy of Government of Maharashtra, 30% seats are reserved for female candidates.
  • As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Agricultural University and Government of Goa, three seats (over and above) are allotted to the students recommended by Government of Goa to the Registrar, Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Agricultural University, Dapoli.
  • For ICAR nominated candidates, 5 to 10 % seats of sanctioned intake capacity are reserved and students nominated by ICAR are admitted under ICAR quota.
